Our Comments:

We have to admit that we've eaten maybe one or two dump cakes. Oh, maybe the word 'hundred' should be there also.

A dump cake is a work of art. It's quick. It's easy. And people will think that you're a creative genius when you make it. If you make it for scouts, they'll almost be civil to you for a short period of time.

You take a can of fruit. (Cherry is my fave.) You take a box cake. Dump the fruit into a pan (or dutch oven). Mix up the cake and dump that over the fruit. Add a few pats of butter (Ya, right.) Bake it. Gut out when it's done.

Well, there's some variations in there, but you get the idea. It doesn't get any simpler than that. Even starting cooks can make a great dessert.
